The One in the Jungle - A Dream Come True

In winter 1994 I wrote a proposal for a Radio Show called ‘One in the Jungle’ and sent it to Matthew Banister, then the Controller of Radio One. It was on the strength of this that Andy Parfitt invited me to meet him in his office at the BBC's Egerton Housein Spring 1995. Andy loved the title 'One in the Jungle' and adopted it straight away.

The Show’s Broadcast in the Summer of '95 it featured Goldie, GQ, Brockie and DET, Roni Size, Dynamite, DJ Rap and Moose, Shy FX and A Guy Called Gerald alongside Navigator. It was Britain and Radio One's first national Jungle show.

On more than one occasion I've heard or read stories incorrectly crediting the origin of the programme to various Radio One producers. The last story in DJ Magazine cited Wilbur Wilberforce when he was in fact producing Fabio & Grooverider at Kiss 100FM. On further research the story was found to have originated in a biography circulated by the One FM press office in '95. DJ Magazine printed an apology and correction ... Please! Leave History be.
